The level of child poverty is the highest in large cities of the United Kingdom, mainly in London, Birmingham and Manchester and among the 20 parliamentary constituencies, with seven among them located in London, three in Birmingham, and three in Manchester, according to the report of the End Child Poverty organization.

More than one in four children are living in poverty in the United Kingdom, once housing costs have been deducted from their income, the End Child Poverty organization revealed in a new report published on Tuesday.

"In the UK, over one in four children are living in poverty once housing costs have been deducted from their income," End Child Poverty said in the report. The level of child poverty is the highest in large cities, mainly in London, Birmingham and Manchester and among the 20 parliamentary constituencies, with seven among them located in London, three in Birmingham, and three in Manchester. The parliamentary constituencies with the lowest levels of child poverty (AHC) are Gordon, West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, Sheffield Hallam, and York Outer, with figures between 9 percent and 10 percent.

The organization is warning that freezing benefits will cause prices to rise in the future and will put low income families in a more difficult spot. It is calling on government to end the freeze on children's benefits and to lift the extreme cuts that were introduced to in-work benefits.

Cuts to the benefit system were introduced before Prime Minister Theresa May came to power, and she has showed no sign of reversing the decision taken by the previous government which, some believe, may deprive UK poorest families of around 1,000 pounds ($1,200) a year.
