FARC-EP, Colombia's largest armed group, released today eight children from its ranks and handed them over to UNICEF in a temporary reception centre.
The release comes ahead of the formal signing of a peace deal between the Colombian Government and FARC-EP, scheduled for 26 September. The deal will end more than 50 years of war.
The children were in good health. They will receive psychosocial support as part of a process to help their reintegration into civilian life.
Similar releases are expected over the following weeks.
